hkASpell is a wrapper for the ASpell spell checker interface, mainly designed to provide a way to spell check non-English text. This document includes step-by-step instructions on how to install hkASpell and the related files.

ASpell is an open source spell checker library that was designed for GNU related applications running on Linux/UNIX platforms. hkASpell is a wrapper for the wxSpellChecker user interface that's based on the Windows port of ASpell.

The main advantage of the hkASpell wrapper is that it provides a new way to spell check non-English text through the ASpell interface. However, it is a third-party interface that is not as closely integrated with the HTML-Kit as its default spell checker and the built-in support for the Word SpellChecker.

To test the hkASpell wrapper (currently in beta stage):

• Download and install the Win32 version of ASpell as documented.
   
• Download and install the dictionary for the particular language that you are interested in from the ASpell Dictionaries Page. Test the both installations to make sure that ASpell is able to use the newly installed dictionary.
   
• Download the hkASpell plugin and install the *.zip file using the "Tools | Install | Plugin" main menu option in HTML-Kit. To preserve the directory structure, the *.zip file itself must be installed without unzipping (HTML-Kit will extract the files to the correct directories).
   
• Restart HTML-Kit, open a document and click the hkASpell icon on the "Tools" tab. The ASpell spell checker dialog should appear on top of the current document.
