 Commonly Asked Questions

Q-1. What does the Personal License mean?

In practice it essentially means that you ("you" as in the individual end-user of the software, but not as an entity) can use HTML-Kit free of charge by visiting the download page, reading and accepting the Personal License, downloading HTML-Kit Build 292, and installing it on one or more of the computers you use at home, school and/or work.

Please note that the Personal License only applies to you as an individual. Companies and/or other entities that may require multiple installations on behalf of their employees and/or other users do not qualify for the free of charge use of the software under this license. However, individual users in any entity may follow the steps described in the above paragraph to individually obtain and install the software for their own use. The main difference being that you as an individual obtain the Personal License for the software, rather than an entity that may need to distribute and/or perform multiple installations for others.

Is what's available under the Personal License a stripped-down version?

No, HTML-Kit Build 292 that's available under the Personal License is not a stripped-down version or a package to promote a different version. Although additional plugins and other add-ons designed for it can be obtained separately under different licenses, the version that's available under the Personal License is the full-blown version of HTML-Kit with all of its original features.

So what's the registration for?

Since the Personal License is for individuals, it does not apply to entities that may prefer to obtain and install the software under their organization. In such cases, one or more licenses can be obtained by registering HTML-Kit.

The registrations help to pay for the costs associated with programming, providing free technical support, hosting free downloads and maintaining an active site. The registered users also get access to extra add-ons and online tools.

How does this license apply to classrooms?

The individual students and teachers in the classroom can use HTML-Kit free of charge under the Personal License. The educational institutions can avoid multi-seat licensing fees by requesting the individual students to follow the steps described in Q-1 to download and install HTML-Kit, for example, at the start of the course. While most students are likely to know how to download and install software over the web, the process could be educational to the students who may not be familiar with Internet software and licensing terms.

Can I use HTML-Kit to create commercial sites under this license?

Yes, you can use HTML-Kit even in commercial environments under the Personal License. There is no restriction on the type of work, as long as you obtain and use HTML-Kit under the Personal License as described in Q-1.

What should I do if I have more questions about the license?

Please write to HTML-Kit Support if you have any further questions related to the Personal License or licensing HTML-Kit.
